Description
If you are looking for that perfect gift for the pet lover in your life or for a way to immortalise your beautiful fur baby you cannot go far wrong with a hand drawn bespoke portrait.
I work with lightfast, highly pigmented colour pencils on archival paper layering colours to create texture and tone to truly reflect the subject and capture their likeness. I will create an initial lineart of your portrait for you to approve the composition and once you are happy with this I will get to work. You can choose to be updated throughout the process or wait until the portrait is completed to approve before it is posted. If your portrait is not a gift and you are happy for me to do so I will post progress pictures on my social media channels.Â
Your finished portrait will be hand signed, mounted (sizes shown are the mounted size) and backed to protect it and present it beautifully. I also spray your portrait with a UV protectant to help avoid light damage but I do advise displaying away from direct light also. It will then be placed into a clear packet and finished with a ribbon. I always wrap my portraits in tissue paper to enhance your unpacking fun! You will receive a Certificate of Authenticity and a Care Guide with your artwork.Â
You can speak to your local professional framer who will advise you on the best frame and glass to suit your portrait (UV filtering glass is ideal). If you choose to buy a ready made frame please use the sizes stated as a guide and make sure the mounts (or similar) are used as this will help to prolong the life of your portrait and reduce any chance of damage.Â
The turnaround time for portraits depends on my current wait list and the size you have chosen. Portraits are posted via Royal Mail First Class tracked service and usually arrive the day after posting.Â
Reference photos should be clear and of a good resolution – I draw what I see so getting the right reference photo is key to creating a great portrait. I can work with a variety of references but clear photos in good, natural light that show all of the details will result in the best possible portrait. It is also beneficial to take the photo as close to eye level with your pet to avoid any distortions and ensure that all their features are captures (no missing ears!) If you aren’t sure if your photos will work or if your pet is no longer with us and choices are limited, please do get in touch and we can discuss options.Â
Please note that, once started, portraits are non refundable but I will work with you to ensure you are happy with your portrait.Â
